A Day in the Park
Soft solar rays hit the duvet, bringing light to stillness.
They bat their eyes, nestled in-between cats
named after fruit. A stretch met with a shuddered shake
was enough to lift the day.
They get in the car once the London fog touches their lips
my waffle-knit sleeves brushing against their arms.
Windows down to capture the freeing feeling,
passing a dog smiling out the window
a lady picking a dainty flower off the side of the street.
The warm sight of the old couple
strolling at their own pace,
a parent laughing at their baby
mimicking the hopping bird
Nearby, a duck dunks its head underwater,
we take note from our spot.
The highlighted ripples moving through green leaves
fanned in front of a blue sky.
A big dog running around the grass
while a small dog sits, sniffing in the air. The sun hitting,
bringing their eyes to a squint, barely able to see.
Breathing in the aroma of the freshly trimmed grass
hearing the subtle sounds of conversation.
Enormous trees shade a resting spot for the family below.
Tying pieces of grass into knots,
they look up for a gentle kiss,
and with every blink of an eye
These moments will always be here.
