Stylist/Beauty Team

The Stylist/Beauty Team will be on-call team that aids in photoshoots for the magazine.

Responsibilities include:

Collaborating with photographers and featured students/models to style them or do makeup for photoshoots, planning styling based on student and location to accentuate their work being featured, getting creative to make new looks to suit magazine layouts, communicating with the design and photo team for ideas and time frames. Very low-commitment with little to no work.

The Stylist/Beauty team includes around 5 people.

Only apply if you are experienced in beauty.

Graphics Team

The Graphics/Layout Team is responsible for the overall design of the print publication and promotional materials.

Responsibilities include:

Completing page layouts and content setup for print and digital versions of the magazine, brainstorming new page design styles, identifying trends and planning typographic/graphic layouts based on featured students’ images/copy, working with digital design programs to create spreads (Adobe Creative Apps), editing layouts and design concepts with feedback and peer review from other Design team members, working with Photo and Writing teams to get content and ideas when creating spreads for both print and digital magazine.

A large amount of commitment will be needed during print layout weeks.

The Graphics/Layout team consists of around 15-20 members.

Photography Team

The Photography Team works with all things photography for The Look Magazine.

Responsibilities include:

Planning photoshoots with featured people, collaborating with writing and design teams as needed, brainstorming ideas for upcoming photoshoots, editing photos to fit magazine standards, working with stylists/beauty team and layout team to execute photoshoots, being available for photoshoots as needed, and collaborating with other team photographers, VP of Photography, and Creative Director for final approval and planned aesthetics.

The Photography Team consists of 20-30 members.

Writing Team

The Writing Team produces all written content for the print issue and the website blogs.

Responsibilities include:

Researching new trends, topics, and students to write blogs weekly for the website, completing written content such as interviews, stories, and articles related to art, culture, and fashion for print or web articles, and scheduling interviews with SDSU creative students for their features in blogs or articles, collaborating with Photography Team members to have a cohesive photo and copy pairings for each feature, and issuing potential stories to the VP of Writing for approval/editing within given deadlines.

The Writing Team consists of 20-30 members.

Events/Outreach Team

The Events/Outreach Team makes sure all events run smoothly and work with outside collaborations for the magazine.

Responsibilities include:

Planning and executing magazine events (launch events, fundraising events, etc.), researching potential collaborations (small businesses or local SD creatives), brainstorming fundraising or event ideas and pitching to team/VP for approval, helping with setting up of events and logistical planning (securing event spaces on campus, communicating with RSO officers, etc.).

The Events/Outreach team consists of 5-8 members.
