Key Trends For a Hot Girl Winter

With Halloweekend marking the end of autumn, the beginning of winter ushers in the opportunity for a new wardrobe. While technically there’s still two whole months until winter officially begins, most of us agree that the time between Halloween and the holiday season is one big blur. With that being said, here is a list of the fashion trends that should be placed on your holiday wish list this winter season.

  1. Ballet Flats

This first trend speaks to our childhood ballerina dreams, but with an effortless, everyday appeal. Something about the ballet flat is so simple, feminine, and screams wealth. Pair these with boyfriend fit denim and a cardigan to create a seamless and mature outfit.

  1. ‘Blokette’ Aesthetic

The blokette style has taken over the Pinterest feeds of many. To those confused by the term “blokette,” (which is a combination of the terms “bloke” and “coquette,”) envision a sports jersey paired with a lace mini or midi skirt, and some Adidas Sambas or buckle Frye boots. Oh, and lots of bows! This trend has the potential for disaster as it combines two drastically different aesthetics, but proves to be fashionable when done correctly. Throw on a sporty bomber jacket over the lacey outfit, and you're ready for the winter weather.

  1. Business Wear

If you’re not already dressing business casual to your 11 a.m. lecture, what are you doing? Break out the matching pant suits this winter. Your favorite “it girls” like Sofia Richie Grainge and Devon Lee Carlson are already doing it. Put on some Aritzia trousers, a fitted blazer, a pointed toe pump, and the tiniest reading glasses you can find, and you’ve got yourself a business deal.

  1. Maxi Skirts

Out with the fall midi, and in with the winter maxi. We’ve seen the maxi skirt go in and out of style over the years, but this time, it’s here to stay. A maxi skirt with an oversized coat and pointed toe kitten heel boots would land you a job in Miranda Priestly’s office.

Honorable mentions include skinny scarves, fingerless gloves, the beloved Ugg, and perhaps the most feared fashion trend that is quickly making its comeback: the capri! Keep in mind, a majority of these trends are not designed for those who live in climates that drop below 65 degrees. So, if you’re in San Diego, you’re in luck! We hope to see your version of these looks on campus this winter.
