Study Spots on SDSU's Campus

In-person classes mean having to spend more time on campus. And whether you have all in-person classes, all online, or a mix of both, it’s nice to find a great place to study and change up your scenery.

So here are five places that are great study spots on campus.

For a Sunset Study Session:

For a spot with a great view, the seats by Storm Hall’s outside patio are perfect. The view overlooks the back hills of San Diego State and is a great place to end a night of studying due to the beautiful sunsets. It's also great if you wanna send a cute snap of the sunset too. The Storm Hall outside patio is also very close to Starbucks if you're in need of caffeine or snacks during your study session.

For a Serene Study Session:

If you’re looking for a spot that is a little less distracting but still gives off peaceful vibes, this is the place for you! Located near the campus garden and in front of Life Sciences South, this study spot has cute tiled tables and benches to study on. There is also a flowing fountain for those ASMR in-person water sounds. This serene spot is a little more secluded from campus but still gives you that warm sunny vibe while studying.

For a Group Study Session:

One of my favorite places to pull out a picnic blanket and study is the Scripps Cottage lawn. This study spot is the perfect meeting spot for a group project or if you and your friends just want a place to spread out and study together. If you need a break from your study session you can also walk down to watch the cute little turtles that live at the koi pond.

For a Secluded Study Session:

With the inclusion of hybrid classes this semester, sometimes you have to take your live zoom classes on campus. The tables on the second floor of Student Services West are your place to go. This area is usually pretty empty, which allows you to talk as much as you want while you're in your zoom class. There are also umbrellas connected to the tables for those really hot days when you need some shade.

For an Inside Study Session:

For those cooler days when you want to study inside but aren’t feeling the library, go to the student lounge in the Union. Located on the first floor of the Student Union and by the Aztec market, choose the student lounge if you’re trying to cram for a midterm or just need a place to relax for a little. This room has very comfortable seats and is located by Habit and Chipotle if you’re looking for something to eat too.

If you're getting tired of being on campus and want to explore a little bit more of San Diego, beaches and cafes are also great options. Studying at Mission beach allows you to enjoy the crashing waves as background noise, it's a lot quieter during the week and parking is free. For cute cafe vibes, look at The Look’s article about cafes in North Park

No matter where you are studying, give yourself the time to care for your mind, body, and soul by taking personal breaks to be the best you for school.
