In A Daze: Let’s Talk About It

The Look Magazine prides itself on fostering creativity, authenticity, and perspective. While our issues themes can be easily shaped, molded, and up for interpretation, it is important that our themes also create an outlet for limitless creativity and artistic expression. As we celebrate the completion of Issue 05, we also celebrate our theme, In A Daze. Through the cultivation of unique writing, photography, and graphic design we showcase the talent and hard work of our members through our biggest issue yet. 

In A Daze is a concept that is multi-faceted and multi-layered, allowing for members to be inspired from many different outlets. The theme, In A Daze, also allowed Issue 05 to foster different emotions, personalities, and vulnerabilities. From self-reflection to poetry and personal anecdotes to fiction short stories, Issue 05 captures the beauty of perspective. 

As San Diego State’s first student-run art, fashion, and design publication, it is important that our work reflects student voices, opinions, and experiences. The theme, In A Daze, allowed members of The Look the opportunity to experiment and think outside the box. The beauty of this theme is its subjectivity which helped cultivate an issue filled with diversity and depth with a fresh flare. 

What also makes the concept of In A Daze unique is its unknowingness. What first came to mind when I heard the theme was a sense of blurriness. A feeling of uncertainty in a changing time. Creating unique mediums that revolve around an interpretive and evolving concept allow for new ideas, something so refreshing in the publication sphere. 

Issue 05 of The Look Magazine will be available to read virtually here on our website. We hope that its content will inspire and ignite creativity and conversation.
